Saints replace Reggie Bush by signing Darren Sproles

For those Saints fans worried how they might replace Reggie Bush, they just got a better version of a versatile runner, receiver and return man. NFL Network reports the Saints have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with free agent running back Darren Sproles. The deal is reportedly worth $14 million, with $6 million guaranteed.
The definition of a diminutive dasher, Sproles, 28 and just 5-6, 190 pounds, packed big-play punch as a key sparkplug in San Diego's offense. The former Charger will now step into the scatback, third-down type role Bush occupied in New Orleans.
The move reunites Sproles with the man who was the Chargers' quarterback for his rookie season, Drew Brees. Brees will love having Sproles as a Bush-like cog in the passing game, and so will coach Sean Payton.
Sproles brings more explosiveness and quickness to a Saints offense that also is welcoming back slot receiving ace Lance Moore. Payton now won't lose a beat with his backfield depth as Sproles joins Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory and rookie first-round pick Mark Ingram.

Reggie Bush, Haynesworth Are Traded: Burress to Meet With Giants

Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth and running back Reggie Bush were among the players reported to be moving in the third day of National Football League free- agent negotiations.
The New England Patriots acquired Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in 2013, according to the Washington Post. Bush, who won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints after the 2009 season, was traded to the Miami Dolphins after accepting a pay cut, the Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the talks.
Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who missed the last two seasons while serving a 20-month prison sentence on a weapons charge, is expected to meet with both the Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers this week, ESPN said, citing people with the teams and NFL it didn’t identify.
The NFL and its players ended a 4 1/2-month lockout July 25 with agreement on a 10-year labor accord. Under rules accompanying that deal, teams can negotiate free-agent discussions and trades, with no signings or announcements allowed until tomorrow. They could start signing rookies earlier this week.
Haynesworth, a Pro Bowl selection as a member of the Tennessee Titans in 2007 and 2008, was voted the league’s most dominant defensive player by his peers in a 2009 Sports Illustrated poll. Haynesworth joined the Redskins that same year, accepting a seven-year, $100 million dollar offer that made him the highest-paid defensive lineman in the league, according to ESPN.

Clashed With Shanahan

Haynesworth, 30, clashed with Washington coach Mike Shanahan last season, failing to pass his conditioning test at the start of training camp, skipping team workouts and questioning the team’s defensive formations. He was suspended for the final four games of the season for conduct detrimental to the team and had a career-low 13 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks in eight games.
Bush, 26, was drafted second by the Saints in 2006 after winning the Heisman Trophy as college football’s best player during his final season at the University of Southern California. Bush forfeited that trophy in September after the National Collegiate Athletic Association ruled that he was ineligible to play that season due to his involvement with an agent.
Bush, who has scored 29 offensive touchdowns in his five- year career, missed eight games last season with a broken right leg and had career lows in touchdowns, rushing attempts and receptions. When the Saints selected University of Alabama running back Mark Ingram in the first round of April’s draft, Bush said goodbye to the city of New Orleans on his Twitter account.

New Contract

As part of the trade, Bush agreed to a two-year contract worth about $10 million, AP said. He was scheduled to earn $11.3 million this season under his former contract.
Burress flew to New Jersey on July 26 to meet with Giants coach Tom Coughlin, but is unable to meet face-to-face with the team until tomorrow. The 33-year-old wide receiver, who caught the game-winning touchdown in the Giants’ Super Bowl victory over the Patriots following the 2007 season, will meet with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin following his meeting with the Giants, according to ESPN.
Burress was drafted No. 8 by the Steelers in the 2000 NFL Draft, and played five seasons in Pittsburgh before joining the Giants. In November 2008 he accidently shot himself in the leg at a nightclub in New York, and was sentenced to two years in jail. He was released from prison on June 6 after serving 20 months in jail.

Draft Picks Signed

The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with wide receiver A.J. Green, the team’s first-round draft pick (fourth overall) from the University of Georgia, the team said on its website. The San Francisco 49ers also signed their first-round draft pick (seventh overall), former Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith, the team announced on its Twitter page. The 49ers have now signed all of their 2011 draft picks.
Teams can begin cutting players today from training-camp rosters. The defending American Football Conference-champion Steelers announced in a statement that they released offensive lineman Max Starks and wide receiver Antwaan Randle El. Starks started two Super Bowls with the franchise and Randle El started 23 games in two stints with the team.
The Philadelphia Eagles reached an agreement with 31-year- old defensive end Jason Babin, a 2010 Pro Bowl selection as a member of the Titans, ESPN reported. The Chicago Bearsagreed to terms with free agent punter Adam Podlesh, 27, who spent his entire four-year career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Colby Rasmus to Blue Jays for Edwin Jackson “is Imminent”

Colby Rasmus to the Blue Jays for Edwin Jackson and relievers Octavio Dotel and Marc Rzepczynski is “on the verge” of happening — if not already done — and an official announcement could come within the next couple hours.
So two months of Edwin Jackson and a couple relievers for a player the Blue Jays will have control over through 2014? You may now send a care package of sleeveless fleeces to the Cardinals front office.
Based on the above photo of Rasmus from the spring training shoot, I would have paid good money to witness Tony La Russa playing the role of Robin Williams while Good Will Rasmus laid on the couch singing “skyrockets in flight, duh, duh, duh, duh.” If not that, the scene below would have done the trick.
UPDATE: According to Buster Olney, here’s the official trade. The main chips are accompanied by your classic who’s who of who…
Colby Rasmus, Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and P.J. Walters for Edwin Jackson, Marc Rzepczynski, Octovio Dotel and Corey Patterson*.

*The addition of Corey Patterson to the deal is reportedly just a swap amongst fantasy teams and not an actual baseball trade.

Kim Kardashian Contracts Psoriasis Disease

TV personality and model Kim Kardashian has been diagnosed with psoriasis, say media reports. In a recent episode of her hit US reality show, 'Keeping up with the Kardashian,' Kim was seen with big, blotchy red marks on her skin. Evidently symptoms of a skin condition called psoriasis.

Kim Kardashian has contracted psoriasis disease.

According to the report, Kim's mother Kris Jenner also suffers from the condition, which is characterized by dry skin
Stress is also said to be a large factor in causing the skin condition to flare up and with her wedding around the corner, it would be interesting to see if she can lower her stress levels and deal with the diagnosis.
The disease has a largely genetic component involved in it. The condition, luckily, is treatable, but it can be triggered by all sorts of things, including alcohol, stress, upper respiratory infections, dry air, and skin injuries.
The self-proclaimed vain star has admitted to having hair from all over her body removed via laser; Botox treatments and she's rarely seen without makeup, suffice to say she can't be too happy with the visible sin condition.
Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian has decided to go the same route as LeAnn Rimes by openly talking about her psoriasis, stating:
''I'd heard of it before because my mom has always had it, but she didn't have red flaky dots all over her. People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect. When I gain a pound, it's in the headlines, so imagine what the tabloids will do to me when they see all these spots.''
See Kim's shocked reaction when discovering the psoriasis condition, which will be featured in the upcoming episode of her reality show, 'Keeping up with the Kardashians'.

Traces performs on 'America's Got Talent' - watch video!!

Generally the results shows for "America's Got Talent" are long, drawn-out hours featuring a few performances that you can fast-forward your DVR through in order to get to the results. But on Wednesday night's show (July 20), there was a an acrobatic act called "Traces" that blew us away.

It started out with one guy doing tricks while he spun in a giant metal ring, which was cool enough, but soon he was joined by 5 other men plus one woman and the group started performing all sorts of pole stunts and tumbling tricks.

It was amazing. The choreography was spectacular and they even seemed to be telling a bit of a story during the act. We definitely think if Steven Retchless doesn't win, he should try to get in with this group. Traces is scheduled for an off-Broadway run at the Union Square Theatre, running from July 29 to Oct. 9.

'Jellyfish Soup' Alert For Britain's Swimmers

Britain's seas could be turned into a "jellyfish soup" this summer, scientists have warned swimmers.

A Moon jellyfish swims beneath the waters of Inner Farne
Marine biologists say pollution and over-fishing may be behind the rise
The number of jellyfish living in the UK's coastal waters is on the rise, says the Marine Conservation Society (MCS).
"There is strong evidence that jellyfish numbers are increasing around the world, including UK seas, and these increases have been linked to factors such as pollution, over-fishing and possibly climate change," said the MCS' Peter Richardson.
The society is now asking beachgoers to take part in its survey of jellyfish numbers to help learn more about them.

Species usually seen in British waters are the barrel, moon, compass, blue and lion's mane jellyfish.
Those brave enough to get close to the creatures are being urged to "look but not touch" as not all have a mild sting.
Some - like the lion's mane - which is found as far south as the Irish Sea and Norfolk, have a strong, but non-fatal sting.
Torness nuclear power station, near Dunbar in Lothian, was recently shut down for two days after huge amounts of jellyfish swam into the seas near the site.

EDF Energy, which operates the plant, said the reactors were closed as a precautionary measure and there was no danger to the public.
Jellyfish are the staple diet of the critically-endangered leatherback turtles, seasonal visitors to British waters that migrate from their tropical nesting beaches to feed.

The clip shows that the film promises to give viewers an insight into why Parker's parents leave him as a young boy.

Flash-forward to a grown-up Parker, who is a nerdy outsider at a new school.
There he meets Stone's character Stacey, whom he quickly befriends, and is invited to her house for a family dinner.
Over the meal, Stacey's parents query Parker about his past, and an awkward conversation ensues about why he lives with his aunt and uncle, played by Sally Field and Martin Sheen.
Later he is seen visiting Stone at a lab where she works.

While she cautions him not to touch anything, his curiosity get the better of him, and he is bitten by a spider whilst snooping around.
After getting infected with the spider's superhuman venom, Parker's newly acquired abilities are apparent, and we see him leaping to and from tall buildings, and shooting webs out of his body parts.
At the end of the trailer a voice over of Parker is heard, saying: 'We all have secrets; the ones we keep and the ones that have been kept from us.'
Garfield recently talked about how he got into shape for the new film.

'It’s very specific what we’re trying to achieve in terms of body type and the feeling of that,' he has said. 'Rest assured, there’s a lot of people who are helping me with it because I have no discipline in that respect.
'My father’s a swimming coach and I kind of rebelled against that very, very early on so any form of physical discipline has to be really cracked with a really smart whip.'
The actor tells Entertainment Weekly in the interview that he identifies with alter ego Peter Parker, who was last played by Tobey McGuire in the previous three blockbuster films, directed by Sam Raimin and co-starring Kirsten Dunst.

'I always felt stronger inside than I looked on the outside which got me into trouble,' he tells the magazine,' about his teenage years.
'I related to Peter Parker so much because I felt like someone else inside.  I loved the comic books and the animated TV series, and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid.'
Garfield was only 18-years-old when he saw Tobey McGuire in the first Spider-Man movie.
'The action sequences were so expansive and breathtaking with Tobey swinging through the air,' he recalls to the magazine. 'It just floored me!'

Directed by Marc Webb, it will be 'more contemporary', 'more gritty' and 'more character driven.'

Webb says that Garfield was the stand out actor in the Spider-Man audition process.
'We auditioned hundreds of actors and then we screen tested four of five,' he tells the magazine. 'Andrew was probably the least-known person
'But I kept going back and watching him, thinking, 'What is this guy doing?'
The movie will also feature British actor Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors, who transforms into Spidey's enemy the Lizard in an experiment gone wrong.
